Your first call,
step by step.
Check the sound. Bring your notes. Start when you’re ready.
Connect transcription and answers
In Cuevale, open More → Settings. Add your Deepgram API key for transcription and a key for your chosen AI provider. Select your live coaching and post-call providers, then use their Save and test buttons. Save your settings.
Keep keys private. Don’t include them in screenshots or support messages. A successful AI connection test does not check your microphone or transcription.
Check that both sides can be heard
In More → Settings, choose your Microphone and Call audio output. The output must match the speakers or headset selected in Zoom, Teams, or your call app. Save settings.
Open More → Audio check. This starts a local audio-level check. Speak and look for movement under Your microphone. Then play some audio and look for movement under Other side / system audio. Choose Stop audio check when finished.
Check again whenever you change headphones, speakers, or a dock. Moving meters confirm sound is arriving; use a short practice call to check transcription and speaker labels too.
Bring the context
From Home, create a context for this opportunity. Start with your objective, then add the documents and notes you want answers to use.
- Interview: the job posting, the résumé you sent, and notes from previous interviews.
- Client call: the desired outcome, proposal, and previous decisions.
Review any AI-prepared context draft before accepting it. Calendar and Claude connections are optional.
Try a short practice call
Choose Start call, select your context (or no context), then click Start call on the preparation screen. Confirm that speech from both sides appears in the transcript with the correct labels.
In the floating panel, check which question is in focus before asking for an answer. Select the question you want help with, or type a specific question. Treat the suggested answer as a starting point and check that it matches your experience.
Use capture and assistance only where permitted. If you plan to share your screen, check the recipient’s view using the same sharing method you will use in the meeting. Protection varies by application and capture method.
End, review, and follow up
Choose End call & save. Open Calls to review the transcript and summary, correct details, and export your notes. Check Follow-ups for actions that need your attention.
Calls and documents stay on this computer by default. Audio and selected text go to your configured providers for transcription and AI assistance. Raw audio is not saved as a recording by default.
If something doesn’t look right
A few quick checks.
The other person is missing, or everyone is labelled “me”
Check the call app’s speaker selection against Cuevale’s Call audio output. Save the matching output and repeat the audio check. With speakers, your microphone may also pick up the other person; try headphones for the practice test. Verify both labels before relying on a real call.
The meters move but no transcript appears
Confirm that you started a call, rather than only the audio check. Check the displayed connection error, your internet connection, and the Deepgram key in Settings. Don’t assume a call is being transcribed while the transcript stays empty.
Settings won’t save
Read the error beside Save settings. If a global shortcut is already in use, choose a different shortcut combination and save again. Unsaved audio selections will not take effect.
